How should I pack my prints to deliver to Lexington Photo Scanning?

Although we do not want to discourage you from just collecting all of your stray photos any way you want and getting them to us so that we can get you started, there are some optional things that will help us in completing your order in a timely fashion.

  1. Find a small box to hold your photos up to size 5"x7".  An old shoebox works great. But any small box will do.  For photos larger than 5"x7", a manila file folder works better.

  2. Start filling the box with your photos, on edge with the image facing forwards. This is how you will get the most number of photos in the box.

  3. Several additional things you can do to help us include:

  1. Sort your photos by size so that all 4"x3"s are together, likewise for 4"x6", as well as all Polaroid prints and those pesky 2"x2" little snapshots that people used to like to take...

  2. Arrange your prints as if they are all landscape photos with the top of the image content either headed up or to the right.  This makes scanning them easier and correcting the orientation easier after the photos have been scanned.

  3. If you want me to put the photographs in different folders, please put a card with the name of the group clearly written at the start of each group. This card will be scanned along with the sequence of photos so that groups can be easily identified.

One more thing:  many times people get stuck trying to decide which photos to scan. People frequently contact us inquiring about our service saying that they are going through their photographs and will get back to us when they make their choices of which photos to scan. Unfortunately, this is sometimes as far as they get because of the amount of time and psychic burden they encounter when making choices about photos from long ago.

After having seen this a lot of times, we have the following suggestion:  Don't try to scan all of your photos at once.  Isolate a partial batch of your entire collection, decide which ones you want to scan, bring them over, pick up your results.

Once you see the results of your first batch of scans, you will know the joy of seeing quality scans of your memories and will become enthusiastic to tackle another portion of your collection.
