What's New at Lexington Photo Scanning?

There are a lot of things we have done to keep our service offerings responsive to our customer's requests, such as:

  • New Website: We have noticed that more and more people are accessing our website from  smartphone/mobile devices.  Our previous website didn't do a good job of representing our content on smaller screens.

So, we took the opportunity to use newer website templates which implemented mechanisms that are responsive to the size of the screen in how information is laid out on the display.  While we were at it, we reorganized the information to help customers find what they were looking for.  In particular, after operating this business for 6 years, we now know the typical questions we get asked.  So, our presentation of information is organized around Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).  In that section, questions are categorized around the different media types we scan or convert (Photos, 35mm Slides, Negatives, Video and Audio Cassettes and Home Movie Film), plus a General category. Please check the FAQ section to see if your question(s) have already been answered.

Finally, on the Contact Us page, there is an All Purpose Message Form which you can use to communicate with us. The advantage for you of using this form is that we have an automatic record of your questions and our answers for improving the FAQ section of the website.

We have been beta testing the website for a while now and have corrected some rough edges.  Please let us know about any others that remain.

  • Movie Film Conversion: We have just received a RetroScan Universal 8mm, Super 8mm, and 16mm Movie Film Converter.  This amazing device will address conversions of a frequently requested media type.

My wife and I have noticed that when watching conversions of our own, long lost Super 8mm film we are wonderfully nostalgic.  With other relatives, we find that we run these conversions slowly so that we can identify all of the long forgotten relatives at family parties in these old films.

As soon as we learn the ins and outs of this new device we will let people that we are ready for new orders of Movie Film conversions.

  • Negatives: About 6 months ago, we acquired a new Epson Perfection V800 scanner which we used exclusively for scanning negatives. The difference between this scanner and an ordinary flatbed scanner is that the lid contains led illumination so that light is transmitted through the film to the scanners sensor.  This is a requirement for scanning film whether it be negative or positive.

  • Vinyl LP Record Conversion: Although new Vinyl LP records are all the rage these days, there are still people who have held onto their original vinyl records that came from the days before CDs and digital music.  We recently acquired a Sony USB Turntable that allows us to play a vinyl record and have a digital stream come through a USB cable into our computer for capture and subsequent processing.

So, now it is possible for you to play your old favorite records on modern devices such as CD players, iPhones and Android Phones, and computers as well as stream them over the Internet.

We will continue to keep our service offerings up to date as we new areas of demand from our customers.  For a complete list of the media types we can currently handle, please see Media Types Scanned or Converted. If you have something to covert to a digital representation that you think we don't handle, please Contact Us and let us know about your needs.
